How to align bullets in Word vertically
If you have text typed out and would like to add bullet points to it, here are the steps you can follow.
- Select the text that needs to be formatted
- Click on Home in the top ribbon of the document.
- In the paragraph section, you will see the bullets option.
- Click on the arrow and choose the style you would like to use.
To align these bullets, you have two options: points and subpoints. Here is how to align bullets in Word.

- Click on the first bullet, and all the other bullets will be selected

- Rightclick on the selection and choose bullet points and numbering
- In the popup menu, go to the section titled Bullets and click on Customise.

- Click on bullet position.
- Use arrows to move the bullets to the left or right.
- Once done, click on OK to save the changes.

How to align bullets in Word vertically using the ruler?
You can manually move the bullets using the tabs on the ruler. Here is how
- Click on the first bullet, and all the bullets will be selected
- Hover the pointer over the selected bullets, and it will change to an I
- Now left click; do not release the click
- You will see a dotted line from the bullets to the ruler

- Now, move the pointer in the direction you would like to move the bullets.
- If you have bullets that are not in the same line, you can do this manually by moving individual bullets till they are in one line.
